Dear Parents:

With another school year about to begin, it is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to Wingdale Elementary School.  It is our mission as the district’s primary school to educate each student to his/her maximum academic capabilities and to foster positive emotional and social development.  We have designed a K-2 program that recognizes and responds to the special characteristics and unique needs of very young children.  It is our conviction that an effective educational program for students must reflect the understanding that the purpose of the primary school is to help each child develop in a manner that will enable the child to proceed through school as a well-adjusted, academically confident student.

            School begins on Tuesday, September 8, 2009. School hours are 8:25 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Please make every effort to have your child in school on time.  It is important that your child remain in school for the entire day.  The importance of regular school attendance cannot be overemphasized.  There is a direct correlation between good school attendance and academic success. 

            If you transport your child to school and arrive prior to 8:25 a.m., please be prepared to remain with your child until the official beginning of school- 8:25 a.m.  Please do not allow your child to enter the building without an adult.  Our children do not yet have the judgment to be left unattended.  Please comply with the above to ensure your child’s safety.  The six day schedule will be in effect as in previous years.

            It is always my hope that parents feel welcome and are treated as partners in the education of their children.  Communication between home and school is key to the development of a positive relationship.  Please contact your child’s teacher often.  At times, an issue may surface where the need to speak with me is immediate.  If you are unable to reach me at school, please feel free to e-mail me using my personal e-mail account catherinealv@msn.com or call me at home- 860-210-1344.  Collaboration with parents is critical to our children’s success.
